Supporting young people, workers and indigenous women in the digital transition
Project Industrial Workers Go Digital
In Vietnam, digital transformation is accelerating, but it remains marked by significant
inequalities. In Quảng Nam province, young people from rural areas, female workers
in industrial zones, and Cơtu and Giẻ-Triêng women lack the resources and time to
develop their digital skills. Lacking appropriate training, they find themselves
vulnerable: difficulties accessing digital public services, poor preparation for the jobs
of tomorrow, and exposure to online risks and violence.
Since 2024, GRET, VietNet-ICT, and the Quảng Nam Women's Union, with the
support of Batik International, have been implementing training and digital tools co-
developed with beneficiaries. At school, students are taught about digital security and
responsible internet use. In communities, young women outside the school system
and female workers in industrial zones have access to simple, practical content
adapted to their realities. Support networks, both online and offline, foster solidarity,
experience sharing, and peer mentoring.
Ultimately, the project aims to reduce inequalities in digital access and empower
young people, workers, and women from ethnic minorities. By incorporating their
voices and needs into the design of the tools, it contributes to a more inclusive and
egalitarian digital society.
