Carrying a feminist, decolonial and transregional voice to defend sexual and reproductive rights!
BATIK Int. spoke at the seminar "Health and Sexual and Reproductive Rights: regards croisés Maghreb-Europe » organiséé par Médecins Du Monde Belgique.

? À Brussels, BATIK International and its partners carried a féminist, décolonial and transregional voice to defend sexual and reproductive rights!
During the séminaire « Santé et Droits Sexuels et Reproductifs : regards croisés Maghreb-Europe » organisé&e by Médecins Du Monde Belgique, BATIK International, through the voice of Clara Di Leone, Advocacy Officer, intervened alongside key actresses from the Maghreb and Europe to share the progress made over the last few months with the association's partners in the region:
. - the establishment of the Alliance Féministe Maghrébine collective and the construction of a regional advocacy strategy,
. - the publication of an advocacy report with concrete recommendations for combating violence against women and children in the Maghreb,
. - the participation of the UN Commission on the Status of Women alliance
.
She also highlighted the obstacles and levers to building together a strong Maghreb-Europe coalition in favor of sexual and reproductive rights, and questioned the role that an international NGO like BATIK Int. can play in supporting local feminist struggles without reproducing North-South relations of domination.
? Other speakers focused on:
? Selma Hajri (MARA Mediterranean): l'accès à l’avortement comme levier féministe euro-méditerranéen
? Fouzia Yassine (ADFM): who shared the lessons of the coalition « Égalité sans réserve », going back over the power relationships that run through partnerships
? Yousra El Barrad (Fédération des Ligues des Droits des Femmes, فدرالية رابطة حقوق النساء): broadened the discussion by reminding us that between countries of the South or between North and South, there can be tensions, insisting on the importance of recognizing them in order to move forward together.
? Sara Prestianni (EuroMed Rights): how to make the voices of civil society organizations heard at the European level
.
? At a time when France is preparing its 2026 budget, against a backdrop of severe budget cuts, and when the International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) is taking place, BATIK Int. and its partners have a clear message:
it is urgent to directly and sustainably fund féminist organizations in the South and to build solid alliances between regions, which take into account inequalities, cross-discriminations and the legacies of colonialism!
