Implementation of a training center dedicated to restoration techniques for old buildings in Algiers (2005-2008)
The France-Algeria Rhone Alps Association (AFARA), in connection with the Renaissance du Vieux Lyon association and in close collaboration with its Algerian partners (the association of Casbah owners and the Casbah Foundation) has started a project which aims at implementing a training center dedicated to the restoration techniques for old buildings in Algeria in a house in the Algiers casbah.
This training center should contribute, on its own scale, to the safe keeping of the cashbah of Algiers, registered on the UNESCO world heritage list, by training professionals having the necessary skills to work on the different edifices which form the casbah.
For many years, a protocol of decentralized cooperation between the Urban Community of Lyon and the Wilaya of Algiers has enabled the development of close and special relationships between these two entities. This training center project is part of the protocol of decentralized cooperation.
To support the AFARA and Greater Lyon (in particular within the framework of the Contractorship Assistance/see the hyperlink), BATIK International got involved in the engineering development of the project between 2005 and 2008 through:
- the implementation of viability studies
- the development of the educational project
