Reinforcing IMF’s services

Reinforcement of the Micro-Finance Institute (IMF) services in Tunisia (2004-2005)

Enda Interarabe is a Tunisian microfinance ONG that helps vulnerable people, basically women, access to micro-credits in order to enable them to carry on income generating activities but also assisting them in other non-financial matters, mainly giving advice towards:

  • business managing
  • a better understanding on the elementary rules on health and hygiene
  • further knowledge on institutional matters
  • public subsidies they can apply to
  • the support to cultural, environnemental and social initiatives that may help to raise their living standards.

The partnership project between BATIK International and Enda Interarabe started in 2004 in order to reinforce these non-financial assistance or Business Development Services by:

  • creation of further support services adapted to the needs of the “micro-entrepreneurs”
  • further services in the setting of the projects first stages
  • evaluation of the project’s first phases to be able to optimize and extend the suggested services to further stages

The end of the project, in 2005, lead to the creation of FEM, a regional programme for the social and economic empowerment of "micro-entrepreneuses" in the Mediterranean.
