Exchange

Evaluation of the Exchange project (2006-2008)

The Exchange project was co-funded by the EQUAL community initiative programme (ESF) and was run at the same time as the Long March initiative (hypertext link). It involved two European partners, the International Organisation for Migration in Slovakia and Pisa Province in Italy, and two French partners, ASLC (the educational, linguistic and cultural support association) and Amicale du Nid. The project aimed to encourage exchanges of practice and knowledge about the victims of modern slavery. Workshops and international meetings were held and exchanges between grassroots stakeholders who work directly with victims took place.

Batik International carried out the international evaluation of the project. The evaluation was designed as a tool to support project management and to measure the results of the international aspect. It was carried out using questionnaires given to mobility initiative beneficiaries and international initiative coordinators based on an evaluation framework drawn up in conjunction with the partners and taking into account the specific facets (innovation, empowerment and gender) of the EQUAL programme. The process highlighted the added value provided by the European dimension of the initiative to the issue of modern slavery.
