CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility

The European Council defines Corporate Social Responsibility as “a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and their interaction with stakeholders on a voluntary basis”.
It is in several levels that BATIK International wishes to engage in these CSR initiatives.

Due to the capacity of the private sector to reduce vulnerability of fragile population, companies have always played a crucial role in BATIK International’s projects, weather it is in training, assistance in starting-up companies or in its integration initiatives. BATIK International wishes to reinforce these partnerships, especially in the textile sector all along the global value chain, promoting social and environmentally conscious conducts.

Over the last years many partnerships have been developed, especially in Vietnam where the implication of companies in projects such as MOBIL’Asie or the Ethnic Minorities and Crafts is crucial, no wonder the private sector is in fact considered a key actor in the achievement of the United Nations Millennium development goals.

The purpose of this section is therefore to present those networks in which BATIK International places itself to go further in-depth on the impact that the promotion of Corporate Social Responsibility can have in its projects such as the organization of an Ethics and Economic Forum in Hanoi, November 4th 2010.
